At Crumb's the Word® we get asked to donate cakes to charities quite a lot, and we dearly wish we could say yes to them all because they are usually for some fantastic causes. Unfortunately as we are a small business we can't afford to do that, so we have chosen three charities that mean a great deal to us, and for every traybake sold a portion of the profit will go to those.
The first charity is in honour of Lissy's dog Bertie, who is sadly no longer with us. Bertie the Labrador lived for nearly 15 years, and in that time won a lot of fans. In memory of the popular lad we will donate a third of the money set aside for charity to Dogs Trust.
As we live in Reading, near the incredible River Thames, we know that there is still a growing issue for housing, with many unable to find a place to live at all. It is with this in mind we will be donating another third of the donation money to Launchpad, a charity that supports the homeless in Reading.
Our third chosen charity is Autistic Pride Reading that strives to bring positivity to those with an autism diagnosis by celebrating their wonderful neurodiversity. Lissy and Simon have a great deal of insight in to this neurological difference and it is because of that they are proud to be supporting this fantastic charity by giving it the third part of the charity allowance from each sale.
